I haven't posted since Pole Pedal Paddle, so I figured I should catch up ...
June
Bill and I spent Father's Day on the coast with my dad (duh) and mom, hanging out at their home in Waldport, and hiking trails around Cape Perpetua. My mom and I even got a pseudo-Mother's Day in with a day at the spa on Saturday.
Happy Father's Day, daddy! I couldn't have asked for a better father and role model--love you.

July
Fun with chickens
We headed to Ashland for July 4th to visit Bill's Uncle Steve and Aunt Kari, and grandparents. I'd never met his maternal grandparents, and we figured I probably should before the wedding. They are really cool people--it made us realize how much has changed over the past couple generations. Bill's grandparents don't use computers, and his grandfather (in his early 90s) still spends the day working in the garden and maintaining the land. Both they and Bill's aunt and uncle live partially off the land--growing their own produce and eating fresh eggs, thanks to the handful of chickens they keep. Kari tried to convince us to get our own chickens--I was not hard to convince, but Bill was hesitant to devote part of our land to a chicken coop.
Anyway, we had a nice weekend of sunning by Steve and Kari's pool, BBQing, and hiking (Kari and me) and flying (Steve and Bill).

Velodroming

That's Kevin in the upper right
Bill, Mark, Kevin and Yvette tried track racing at the Alpenrose Velodrome last week. They seemed to catch on quickly, and all had smiles on their faces afterward. I was the official photographer, as I don't feel the attraction to track racing--45-degree slopes on the turns and fixed gears?? No thanks. I'll keep my gears and pavement. : )
